N + 1 Throwback to last Saturday when I picked up this XC weapon from @trekbicyclewoolloongabba. With all the excitement of the @noosaclassic last weekend, and then traveling interstate all week for work, I’ve not had a chance to enjoy my early birthday present - looking forward to getting some dirt all up in there! @trekbikes #trek #xcaliber9 #hardtail #hardtailmtb #29er #cycling #cyclist #cyclistlife #thatcolourtho #newbike #newbikefeels #happyfathersday

Noosa Classic 2018 - done ✅ 120km of hills, rain, thunderstorms and laughs. Great job @noosaclassic - count me in for 2019! #noosaclassic #cycling #cyclist #cyclistlife #sunshinecoast

Should be an interesting morning out riding the @noosaclassic today 😳⛈☔️🚲 #cycling #cyclistlife #damp #noosaclassic #sunshinecoast #sundayfunday
Gentle 30k ride to break in some new tyres before heading up the coast tomorrow for the @noosaclassic. By all accounts it’s going to be a damp one! Really happy with the @pirelli P-Zero Velo tyres as recommended by @pedalheadscycles #cycling #cyclist #cyclistlife #strava #fromwhereiride #pzerovelo

Woke up bright and early for the @pedalheadscycles shop ride. Feeling a little tight in the chest, so with my pericarditis flaring up last week post-Velothon I decided to go for a gentler solo ride out to Scarborough where I could focus on keeping my heart rate in a lower range, rather than keeping pace with the squad. Was rewarded with a beautiful crisp morning and fantastic views our over a still Moreton Bay. I even got to join the PedalHeads Inter 2 group for about 10 seconds as they passed me in Scarborough 😜

Disappointed I’m not out riding the @brissietothebay this morning - my trip to (and subsequent stay in) hospital earlier in the week has revealed I have pericarditis and a pericardial effusion (Google it - I did), and I at the moment I can’t even climb a flight of stairs without getting short of breath.
Whilst I should make a full recovery, I’m a bit worried about how this is going to affect my participation in the three-day @velothonaus in just over a month’s time. Up until last weekend my training had been going well (if not a smidge behind schedule), and the Brissie to the Bay ride was meant to mark the start of my final month of preparation where I intended to ramp up my efforts.
Doctor’s reckon I ought to be feeling right after a couple weeks, and I’ve got an echo of my heart in just under a week to see how things are going, so hopefully I’ll have a better idea of where I stand then.
As for today though - still feeling pretty crap, and longing to get out on two wheels again.
Pledging my allegiance to the Chain Gang 🚴🏼♂️🍻… Psyched to have gotten my @brewdogchaingang cycling jersey delivered this morning - and excited to be selected as a Ride Leader to get a North Brisbane/Moreton Bay Chapter up and running (or maybe just ‘Brisbane’ depending on who else out there is interested in organising some social rides). I’ve posted a tentative first ride for all you local Brisbanites/beer lovers to get involved with - checkout the the club page on @strava (link in bio). #cycling #cyclist #cyclistlife #brisbane #moretonbayregion #moretonbay #brewdog #brewdogchaingang #craftbeer #craftbeerlovers #socialcycling

Tough but enjoyable Great Brisbane Bike Ride yesterday. Hit up the 110km course - minus the optional climb up Mt Coot-tha because, damn, there were plenty of hills without it! Time was slightly longer than expected, but given the 1,400m of climbing I’m not too disappointed.
Hat’s off to @bicycle_qld for another great event - organisation was slick as ever. Great to see they had wrangled exclusive use of the Moggill Ferry, avoiding the hour and a half wait from two years ago.
10/10 would ride again

That’s the 2018 @cycleofgiving 🚲 complete. Despite my lack of consistent training I managed to achieve my goal of doing it in under four hours (even better since it was slightly longer than the 100km I was expecting). Pretty crappy weather conditions didn’t dampen the spirits of the riders, and the organisers and volunteers did a great job of making sure everything went smoothly. I will definitely be adding this to my 2019 ride calendar.
One thing this has shown me, though, is that I’ve got a heap of work to do over the next month if I have any hope of surviving the Ipswich 100 in April. I’m registered for the ‘Imperial’ course, which is 100 MILES (roughly 160km) of hilly Gold Coast Hinterland 😳. #cycling #cyclist #cyclistlife #isurvived #success
After a cold, damp start the weather seems to be improving for this morning’s @cycleofgiving. Great to see a good turnout for a good cause. My first 100km ride in nearly two years - should be interesting! 🚲 #cycling #cyclist #cyclistlife #charity
