Not a big numbers ride this morning - unless you count my average heart rate! Haven’t been out on the full-suspension since the beginning of March so decided to take advantage of the good weather and dive round a few of the trails at Bunyaville. Turns out there’s a network of gnarly dirt tracks in the scrubland near my house - perfect for finally trying out the 29er with the clip-in pedals I bought back in October.
Of course, at the first technical descent I forgot I was clipped-in and superman’d in slo-mo into a nearby bush. Few scrapes and scratches, and a bit of an achy shoulder (we’ll see tomorrow if it feels any worse) but otherwise all good - certainly didn’t stop me from finishing off my ride!
As far as the clip-ins go, I can definitely see why these @shimanomtb Deore XT pedals cost 3x that of the basic egg-beaters I’ve used previously - absolutely top-notch riding experience (when I remember I’m clipped-in 😜). Definitely looking forward to get out on the trails with the clip-ins! (Also, the @fizikofficial M6 MTB shoes... 👌🏻) #mtb #mtblife #iwasspeedingnowimbleeding #fromwhereiride

Whilst the 5am start on a Saturday morning was not fun, it was great to get out to Bunyaville early this morning to beat the heat. . Could have happily stayed longer and rode further, but still easing back into my riding. .
