Starting the day right! It's been at least 5-6 years since I last rode Jurassic (2) and Carnivore (6) at Bunya - both black diamond trails. Partly because of the scary names 😜, but mainly due to lack of fitness. . The fitness still isn't there, but today I put on my big boy pants and gave them both a go. Will need a couple more practice runs before I do either of them at speed, but managed to get through them both without any spills. . Not a big numbers ride this morning - unless you count my average heart rate! Haven’t been out on the full-suspension since the beginning of March so decided to take advantage of the good weather and dive round a few of the trails at Bunyaville. Finally got back out to the @brisbanevalley_railtrail this morning after about a year and a half. Today’s findings: .

1. I really need to practice unclipping from the pedals when I hit obstacles (especially my left foot) .
2. The @goproanz Chesty mount is awesome, but I need to adjust the angle of the camera. .
3. I need to pick a new helmet - more specifically one with a visor. I might as well wear a blindfold when climbing up into the early morning sun. . Was a little more cautious out in the trails than usual - mainly because it was my first time in a long time clipping in while off-road - but also things were pretty sketchy after the rain earlier this week. Busy couple of weeks at work at the moment so seized the opportunity to get away from the indoor trainer and bank some solid road miles on the 29er.

Had planned on catching a nice sunrise over the ocean, but all I got were some moody storm clouds out to sea.

As always the @trekbikesau X-Caliber 9 is a joy to ride - looking forward to (hopefully) getting back out on the trails at the weekend.

Turns out there’s a network of gnarly dirt tracks in the scrubland near my house - perfect for finally trying out the 29er with the clip-in pedals I bought back in October.

Of course, at the first technical descent I forgot I was clipped-in and superman’d in slo-mo into a nearby bush. Few scrapes and scratches, and a bit of an achy shoulder (we’ll see tomorrow if it feels any worse) but otherwise all good - certainly didn’t stop me from finishing off my ride!

As far as the clip-ins go, I can definitely see why these @shimanomtb Deore XT pedals cost 3x that of the basic egg-beaters I’ve used previously - absolutely top-notch riding experience (when I remember I’m clipped-in 😜). Definitely looking forward to get out on the trails with the clip-ins! (Also, the @fizikofficial M6 MTB shoes... 👌🏻) #mtb #mtblife #iwasspeedingnowimbleeding #fromwhereiride
