Through a combination of the Instagram algorithm and Gmail’s spam settings I missed the fact that it was the @cycleofgiving today, so decided to do another self-directed 💯km ride this morning. . . Four laps of the @translinkqld Redcliffe Peninsula Line cycleway - a great rolling surface and more than a few hills means it was far from monotonous. Definitely adding this as a regular fixture to my riding. Century Sunday 💯 . . Banked my first 100+ km ride of 2019 this morning - actually my first since the Noosa Classic last August. . . Bit of a last minute decision - wanted to see how I’d fare over a longer distance with the last two months of training under my belt. Really happy with my performance - especially over the last quarter. Even though my legs were definitely feeling fatigued I somehow managed to ride faster and stronger than ever 🤷🏻‍♂️ . . My only regret - finishing my ride at about 9am, it’s far too early to crack open a cold beer (it is, right?). Had to make do with a coffee instead. . . Busy couple of weeks at work at the moment so seized the opportunity to get away from the indoor trainer and bank some solid road miles on the 29er.

Had planned on catching a nice sunrise over the ocean, but all I got were some moody storm clouds out to sea.

As always the @trekbikesau X-Caliber 9 is a joy to ride - looking forward to (hopefully) getting back out on the trails at the weekend.

Turns out there’s a network of gnarly dirt tracks in the scrubland near my house - perfect for finally trying out the 29er with the clip-in pedals I bought back in October.

Of course, at the first technical descent I forgot I was clipped-in and superman’d in slo-mo into a nearby bush. Few scrapes and scratches, and a bit of an achy shoulder (we’ll see tomorrow if it feels any worse) but otherwise all good - certainly didn’t stop me from finishing off my ride!

As far as the clip-ins go, I can definitely see why these @shimanomtb Deore XT pedals cost 3x that of the basic egg-beaters I’ve used previously - absolutely top-notch riding experience (when I remember I’m clipped-in 😜). Definitely looking forward to get out on the trails with the clip-ins! (Also, the @fizikofficial M6 MTB shoes... 👌🏻) #mtb #mtblife #iwasspeedingnowimbleeding #fromwhereiride

Whilst the 5am start on a Saturday morning was not fun, it was great to get out to Bunyaville early this morning to beat the heat. . Could have happily stayed longer and rode further, but still easing back into my riding. .
